Before Buffalo Springfield,Furay began performing with Stephen Stills in the nine-member group, the Au Go Go Singers, the house band for the famous Cafe Au Go Go in New York City.It was through their performances that lead Richie and Stephen to join Neil Young,Bruce Palmer, and Dewey Martin to form Buffalo Springfield. After a groundbreaking three year run with Buffalo Springfield; Richie stepped out to form and lead the seminal Country Rock band Poco.Along with Rusty Young,Jim Messina and Randy Meissner,Poco's first album Pickin Up The Pieces set the course for all Country Rock bands to follow; including Randy Meissner's new band The Eagles.Poco went on to record 6 albums together before Richie, at the urging of then Geffen Records President David Geffen, joined together with Chris Hillman and JD Souther to form Souther Hillman Furay Band. They recorded two albums, their first going Gold which produced a Top 20 Single. Richie Furay has written and sung some of Americana's biggest songs including:Buffalo Springfield's Kind Woman,Sad Memory,Good Time Boy,Sit Down, and I Think I Love You Do I Have to Come Right Out and Say It; Poco's Pickin Up The Pieces, C'mon and A Good Feelin to Know; as well as Souther Hillman Furay's Fallin in Love. After leaving Souther Hilman Furay, Richie went on a spiritual journey which led him in 1983 to became senior pastor of the Calvary Chapel in Broomfield,Colorado,a non-sectarian Christian church in the Denver area.Richie continued to tour with his own band and also carved out a very successful career in Christian Music. Today Hand In Hand finds Richie back to his Americana routes, and he was just elected into the Colorado Music Hall Of Fame. His new album features the lead single We Were The Dreamers , which takes us back to Richie's days fronting Poco. The album also features Keb Mo on the song Someday and guest vocals by Neil Young and Kenny Loggins on Kind Woman.
