Descripción del producto Judy Collins at her best! Singer Judy Collins was, along with Joan Baez, one of the two major interpretive singers to emerge from the folk revival of the late '50s and early '60s. Like Baez, she began singing traditional folk songs, then moved on to popularize the work of contemporary singer/songwriters, even writing her own songs occasionally. 'Fires of Eden' originally released in 1990 marked Judy Collins' debut on Columbia Records, and she seemed to rise to the occasion with her best overall body of new material in more than a decade. The opening cut, "The Blizzard," a seven-minute epic that rates alongside any of Collins' most beautiful work from her classic years on Elektra.. Her version of the Hollies classic "The Air That I Breathe" is featured here along with Julie Gold's classic "From A Distance". Opinión 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful 5.0 out of 5 stars Judy's best album of the 90's 25 Jun 2007 By Boswell Format:Audio CD Judy seems to have bounced around several labels since leaving Elektra but 1990 found her on a major, Columbia, for this release. The opening track, "The Blizzard", is one of Judy's major compositions. Its a song she still plays in concert and one she can justly be proud of. Her solo concert version of this tune, just voice and piano, is remarkable. The rest of the album almost maintains the high standard of "The Blizzard". A couple of familiar covers "The Air That I Breathe" and "From A Distance" are perhaps the weak spots, but the other tracks are very powerful and the majority are co-written by Judy. "Queen Of The Night" was played quite a lot by Radio 2 and was perhaps too far removed from Amazing Grace / Send In The Clowns / Both Sides Now etc to be a success. A very cohesive album and one that any Judy Collins fan should have in their collection. Her best album of the decade. --Amazon 13 of 13 people found the following review helpful 5.0 out of 5 stars The Fires of Eden 5 Mar 2003 By Diveares - Published on Amazon.com Format:Audio CD|Amazon Verified Purchase Jonathan Schwartz of Public Radio played the song "The Blizzard" in NYC right before the Blizzard of 2003. The tune is magnificent and a real show of Judy Collins still inspired ability and range. "The Blizzard" is absolutely stunning, and this one work is worth the price of the album. --Amazon 8 of 8 people found the following review helpful 4.0 out of 5 stars Timeless! 28 Sep 2003 By SandyK - Published on Amazon.com Format:Audio CD The more I listened to this CD, the more I loved it. Judy's voice is mellow and smooth, and her selection of story-songs is mesmerizing and interesting. I was surprised to learn that this CD was released in 1990, I believe it's a classic. She sings 2 tunes first made popular by others('Air That I Breathe' and 'From a Distance') but gives them her own characteristic stamp. 'Blizzard' and 'Home Before Dark' are my personal favorites. --Amazon P.when('A').execute(function(A) { A.on('a:expander:toggle_description:toggle:collapse', function(data) { window.scroll(0, data.expander.$expander[0].offsetTop-100); }); }); Artista biografía Judy Collins was, along with Joan Baez, one of the two major interpretive singers to emerge from the folk revival of the late 50's and early 60's.
