Descripción del producto Diamond Rio, one of the most popular country groups of the 1990s, created a very unique sound in country music history. They demonstrated their collective strength of purpose from the outset with the 1991 release on Arista of their self-titled debut and the equally impressive 1992 Close To The Edge follow-up both albums becoming platinum sellers. They became the first country group in history to have their debut single, Meet Me In The Middle, top the charts. That first album featured four more top ten hits Mirror, Mirror (3), Mama Don t Forget To Pray For Me (9), Norma Jean Riley (2) and Nowhere Bound (7). It was an impressive first album, quite different to any of the other groups then on the charts. To contrast the up-tempo radio-friendly hit tunes were some stunning ballads like They Don t Make Hearts (Like They Used To) and Mama Don t Forget To Pray For Me with clever use of mandolin and keyboards to further enhance this pretty lament. They maintained the distinctive musical approach with their second album, with four more hits singles, the most successful being In a Week Or Two (2), Oh Me, Oh My, Sweet Baby (5), and This Romeo Ain t Got Julie Yet (13). Though they are first and foremost a live band, during the past twenty years Diamond Rio have become a highly polished and inventive studio band scoring two dozen top 10 singles. They have sold seven million albums, picked up six Vocal Group of the Year awards from the Academy of Country Music and the Country Music Association, received eight Grammy nominations, and, in 1998, became the first group in 14 years to become a Grand Ole Opry member! Opinión A welcomed reminisce of where it all began for this hit-creating, history-making six-part outfit that cleverly stole the top ten slots time and time again. Trust me; it makes for a great toe-tapping, hip-shaking, heart-breaking listen, if ever there was one - **** --Emily Saxton, Maverick, March/April 2013
